God has left the temple and he wants to dwell inside of you.
At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Matthew 27:51
The historical Jesus was announcing a new kind of life.
It’s life without the curtain — the curtain that separated you from God, from life, from other people, from who you really are.
There is no curtain. That’s the message.
But that doesn’t mean that we don’t live and experience life as if it’s still there.
It’s possible to talk about God from the outside.
It’s possible to do theology from the outside.
We do it all the time.
It’s the difference between observing someone bungee jump and jumping off the platform yourself.
There’s no curtain. And the curtain wasn’t torn so that you could come into the temple, it was so that God could leave the temple and take up residence in you.
God is on the loose and anything is possible.
You just have jump… or inch forward until you fall.
