The shape of the future is not completely dissimilar from the present.
In other words, it might be wrong to say that the future is a complete mystery.
The future is just the present multiplied by an unknown variable.
For the most part, the future looks a lot like what you get when you add together all the things that came before it.
Once in a while it looks rather different because all of those things were added up and then multiplied by the unknown variable.
For example, if you’ve been spending all of your time watching Netflix, you’re probably not going to be climbing a mountain tomorrow. If you are preparing to climb a mountain today, you very well might be climbing a mountain tomorrow… or in the near future.
Now, if the unknown variable strikes, maybe you will go from watching Netflix to being a mountain climber… but probably not.
What you’re doing today, you’ll probably keep doing.
What you’re not doing today, you probably won’t do tomorrow.
This is why it’s so important to start.
Starting isn’t everything, but without it you probably won’t have anything.
Maybe the future isn’t always as hard to tell as it seems…
